Eduardo Ramirez: Isaac Cruz Won’t Outbox Me, Can’t KO Me – He Has No Way To Win

Boxing Scene

On September 4 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz will attempt to place himself back in position for a world title shot when he takes on fellow Mexican and veteran contender Eduardo Ramírez in a WBC lightweight eliminator.

Their fight is set down as the Fox Sports pay-per-view co-feature to the heavyweight showdown between Andy Ruiz and Luis Ortiz.

The 24-year-old Cruz (23-2-1, 16 KOs) was in action back in April with a knockout over former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa. It was a bounce back win for Cruz, who lost a hard-fought twelve round decision to WBA champion Gervonta Davis last December.

“I’m very happy and motivated to come back in the ring in front of the great fans in Los Angeles on September 4,” said Cruz. “I’ll be facing a very good opponent and I’ll be back at the same arena where I faced one of the best fighters in the division in Gervonta Davis. Stepping back into the ring there is pumping me up even more and I can’t wait to start throwing my hands on fight night.”

Ramírez (27-2-3, 12 KOs), 29-years-old, is now back in the mix after banking with five-straight victories. And Cruz is last step in securing a world title shot. Back in May, he picked up a decision win over Luis Melendez.

He believes his overall skills will be too much for Cruz to handle.

“I am coming up in weight for this fight, but that just means I’ll be that much stronger,” said Ramírez. “I’m excited for this opportunity, because after I win, I will be recognized as a top fighter in my new division. He’s not going to outbox me and he can’t knock me out, so he has no way to win. I’m planning on showing the world what I can do against a perfect opponent for me.”
