Usyk Promoter Expects Fury Fight To Happen “Not Later Than March 4”

Alex Krassyuk, promoter for WBO. IBF, WBA, IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, says and undisputed fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury should happen no later than the first quarter of 2023.

The fight is likely to land in the Middle East.

Usyk, a former cruiserweight undisputed world champion, is coming off back to back decision wins over British superstar Anthony Joshua.

Fury saw action earlier this month in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, when he battered and stopped veteran Derek Chisora in the tenth round of their trilogy fight.

Usyk and Krassyuk sat ringside for Fury’s most recent outing.

After the fight, they came face to face and traded words.

Their respective teams are currently negotiating the details. Fury is co-promoted by Queensberry Promotions and Top Rank.

“Should happen no later than March 4. Location: Any place in the Universe,” Krassyuk said, according to The Mirror.

Krassyuk also shot down recent claims that an injury to Fury would delay the undisputed showdown.

“According to our knowledge, Tyson Fury is safe and sound,” Krassyuk said.

In the last few weeks, Usyk has been hit with two mandatory orders – but neither is expected to prevent the fight with Fury. The International Boxing Federation ordered Usyk to make a mandatory against Filip Hrgovic, while the World Boxing Association wants Usyk to face WBA “regular” champion Daniel Dubois in a scrap to consolidate the two sanctioning body belts. Dubois, who tore his ACL earlier this month in a TKO win over Kevin Lerena, will be out of action for several months.
