Andy Cruz To Keyshawn Davis: ‘I Already Beat You Four Times’

Boxing Scene

It didn’t take long for Andy Cruz to return fire at Keyshawn Davis.

Earlier this week, Davis, who won a silver medal at lightweight in the 2020 Olympics, criticized Cruz – the fighter who beat him to earn gold in Tokyo – for punching down. Davis said Cruz called him out, when Davis felt it should’ve been the other way around.

Cruz, who picked up a 10-round unanimous decision over Brayan Zamarripa on Saturday, is already a top-rated lightweight.

Cruz took to social media X to respond, and wrote: “You say the gold medalist is calling you out for a challenge. I’ve never called you out stupid,” tweeted Cruz.

“You’re irrelevant at this point I’m looking to fight better.”

The 28-year-old Cruz (3-0, 1 KO) has been scheduled for 10-round fights since turning pro. Davis, 25, is 10-0 with 7 KOs. Cruz is promoted by Matchroom Boxing, whereas Davis is promoted by Top Rank.

“I beat you [four times] already in fact you was already fighting pro [and] came back to Olympics and i still beat you,” Cruz added.

The Cuban was responding to Davis’s initial comment on X, after he wrote, “…Make it make sense. Why is the gold medalist chasing after the silver medalist? What is going on here?”

Cruz, in just three fights, is ranked by all four major sanctioning bodies. He is No. 12 in the WBC and ranked No. 15 by the IBF, WBA and WBO.
