‘Carty Party’ Marks St Patrick’s Day Bill In Ireland

The impressive Irish heavyweight Thomas Carty made short work of Pavel Sour in Castlebarm, Ireland on Sunday night. He improved his record to 8-0 with a second-round stoppage of the Czech heavyweight in front of a large and vocal following.

The big puncher clinically stopped the fight midway through the second round with two well-timed body shots that left Sour on his back at the impressive TF Royal Theatre.

Afterwards, Carty was delighted with the stoppage – particularly the first shot, which took the wind from the sails of the visiting fighter.

“An upper-cut to the solar-plexus was perfect,” he said, post-fight. “Buddy [McGirt, my trainer] and I worked on it, and it was great to see it come off perfectly. The second knockdown was another excellent punch and it was a good night all-round. Nobody was getting up from that one.

“I want to be back in the ring again in a few weeks because I want to have five fights in 2024 and make my mark on world boxing in 2025. I had a great following here tonight and enjoyed every second of it.”

Carty’s win represented his seventh stoppage in a row and he didn’t hide his delight.

“There’s no party like a Carty-party and the big crowd here tonight loved the stoppage, so we can now look forward to more great nights like this in the future,” he said.
