Euro News: ‘Hulk’ Shevadutskyi Steps In To Replace Charr Against Pulev

Boxing Scene

It will be Mahmoud Charr’s stablemate in EC Boxing Ukrainian  Igor “Hulk” Shevadutskyi (11-1)  stepping in to face Kubrat Pulev this coming Saturday (March 30) in Sofia (Bulgaria). It’s not a world title fight but the WBA will still collect some sanctioning fees as its Intercontinental title is at stake.

Shevadutskyi is no “Hulk” but is a big, strong, capable guy whose only loss was to Martin Bakole.

Swedish light heavy Costas Nanga (11-0) is in training camp in Alicante (Spain) where he prepares with his coach Roman Anuchin for the June 1 fight in Maria Enzersdorf (Austria) against Bernardin Jakaj (16-0). It’s a non-title fight scheduled for 10 rounds and an excellent matchup on paper – but also a risky fight and somebody’s 0 is likely to go-

“I wanted this fight,” said Nanga. “It’s big challenge but I am looking forward to it and I will have 10-week camp behind me June 1. There are too few fights like this in professional boxing unlike in MMA or Muay Thai where they are willing to take more risks.”

Costas also says he spends a lot of time studying his opponent, not just inside the ring but also outside of the ropes.

“I want to know how he thinks, why he does things the way he does,” stated Nanga, who began his career in martial arts then turned to Muay Thai where he also turned pro.

He later began with boxing and was in the Swedish elite after just a few fights and won Silver in two national championships before turning pro in 2021.

The event in Maria Enzersforf is promoted by Simba Sports, headed by ex-pro Timy Shala.

Female super welter Ivana Habazin (22-5) headlines and will now face Hungarian Kinga Magyar (14-4) with the WBA interim and vacant WBC titles at stake.
