The beef is cooking between Keyshawn Davis and Raymond Muratalla

Lightweight Keyshawn Davis is criticizing Raymond Muratalla’s recent victory over Tevin Farmer.

Muratalla won via unanimous decision Saturday at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, but he struggled to stamp his authority on the bout during the opening five rounds.

Davis (11-0, 7 KOs), 25, of Norfolk, Virginia, took to the social media platform X on Sunday to thread the needle between calling out Muratalla (21-0, 16 KOs), 27, from Fontana, California, while calling him unworthy.

“You’re a bum,” Davis posted. “”You really lost last night, man. Let’s fight this year so I can show you how sorry you really are.”

According to Compubox, Muratalla landed more punches than Farmer in only four rounds – from the seventh through the 10th.

The story told by those stats (which are far from an exact science): Muratalla connected on 106 out of 481 total punches, while Farmer landed 109 out of 446. Judges favored Muratalla’s higher work rate – on scores of 95-94, 97-92 and 96-93 – and referee Thomas Taylor deducted a point from Farmer for holding in the eighth round.

An account associated with Robert Garcia’s Boxing Academy responded on X, saying, “Let us know when @trboxing. First time you mention Raymond’s name. Nice to see you finally feel ready.”

Davis, seemingly unimpressed, replied, “Blah Blah Blah. I’m about to whoop your boy’s ass.”

Davis recently won a 10-round unanimous decision over 25-year-old Miguel Madueno (31-3, 28 KOs), in a foul-filled fight earlier this month at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Both Muratalla and Davis, a 2020 Olympic silver medalist, have fought five career 10-round bouts.

During fight week, Muratalla told Sean Zittel on his YouTube channel, “I think fighting Keyshawn would be a step back for me, to be honest. I think I am ready for a title shot.”

WBO belt holder Denys Berinchyk has been reported as Muratalla’s top target, but a showdown with Davis – whether next or in the longer term – would likely generate greater interest.
