Teraji vs Rosales vacant title fight reportedly set for Oct. 18 in Japan

Fighting

ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez brings word that former unified light flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji’s vacant WBC flyweight title bout with Cristofer Rosales will land on October 18th in Teraji’s native Japan.

No word yet as to the specific locale.

Teraji (23-1, 14 KO) claimed his first world title just 10 fights into his pro career by toppling Ganigan Lopez, then went on to make eight successful defenses before dropping a shocker to Masamichi Yabuki. Undaunted, he swiftly dispatched Yabuki in the rematch, took out Hiroto Kyoguchi to win the WBC belt, then racked up another three defenses.

He’s both one of the top talents in the game and among its most exciting, an overwhelming offensive force with serious defensive liabilities that make every one of his fights thrillers. He’ll need to be on point against Nicaragua’s Rosales (37-6, 22 KO), a durable and heavy-handed veteran with tons of experience against top opponents. I’m very much looking forward to this one; we’ll let you know as soon as Top Rank and co. officially announce it.
