Davis vs Lemos in the works for Nov. 8 ESPN main event

Fighting

Keyshawn Davis may be just a few short months from the stiffest test of his pro career, as Mike Coppinger reports that the Tokyo silver medalist is “finalizing a deal” to meet Argentina’s Gustavo Lemos atop a November 8th ESPN show in Davis’ hometown of Norfolk, Virginia.

Davis (11-0, 7 KO) currently sits at 2-0 in 2024, thrashing veteran Jose Pedraza in February before outclassing the grapple-happy Miguel Madueno last month. Lemos (29-1, 19 KO) presents significantly greater danger. “El Electrico” torched Lee Selby in a 2022 IBF lightweight eliminator, only to lose his mandatory spot after grievously missing weight for a tune-up bout. Moving up to 140, he picked up a quick knockout in his home country before giving Richardson Hitchins the business and winding up on the wrong end of arguably the most frustrating robbery of 2024.

Lemos can’t hold a candle to Davis’ technique, but few can in this sport; what Lemos offers is nonstop aggression, thudding power, and genuine malice. If Davis pulls off an impressive win here, he’s ready for the big leagues.
