Keyshawn Davis will fight Gustavo Lemos in a 10-round lightweight contest at Scope Arena, Norfolk on November 8 – when Brian Norman Jnr will defend his WBO welterweight title against Derrieck Cuevas.

Davis’ fight with Argentina’s Lemos will follow his older brother Kelvin’s eight-round welterweight contest against Yeis Solano, and his younger brother Keon making his professional debut, over four rounds – also at welterweight.

“As a young kid growing up in Norfolk, I dreamed of accomplishing enough to headline a card at Scope Arena one day,” the 25-year-old Davis said. “My boxing idol is the legendary Pernell ‘Sweet Pea’ Whitaker, and I want to pack that arena like he used to. He’s the greatest from my city, and I’m honored to continue that legacy.

“I can’t wait to put on a spectacular show against a tough opponent in Gustavo Lemos. Everyone from the 757 will be in my corner.”

“This is a big occasion for Keyshawn Davis, and I am coming to Norfolk to spoil the party,” said Lemos, 28. “He picked the wrong guy. On November 8, he’ll find out the truth. He’s not on my level.”

“Norfolk has been waiting for Keyshawn Davis to come home for years,” said Bob Arum of Top Rank, Davis’ promoter. “This is going to be a great night of fights headlined by a real competitive main event. Lemos is full of confidence, and Keyshawn will have to be in top form on November 8 at Scope Arena.”

Also in Norfolk, Davis’ fellow lightweight Abdullah Mason fights Yohan Vasquez of the Dominican Republic over eight rounds, Troy Isley fights Tyler Howard over 10 rounds at middleweight, and Austin DeAnda fights DeAundre Pettus, also at middleweight, over eight rounds.

Before the 29-year-old Cuevas was confirmed as his challenger, Norman Jnr, 23, had been spoken of as a potential next opponent for the IBF champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis. Ennis’ promoters Matchroom had since lost the purse bid for the rematch with his mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian to P2M Box Promotions.
