‘I’m walking to the ring to conquer’: Joshua feels mentally and physically prepared to beat Dubois

Fighting

With Anthony Joshua on the verge of his next world title opportunity, taking on Daniel Dubois on Saturday, he speaks to DAZN about being mentally prepared for this opportunity and putting himself in the right frame of mind to go into battle. Check out some excerpts of what Joshua had to say below.

On fighting at Wembley again considering that’s where he really established himself in his win over Wladimir Klitschko years ago

“My life doesn’t take a drastic turn whether it’s at Wembley, America, Saudi. So I keep my head on my shoulders and just focus.

“I’ve done it in my mind already. I’m a gladiator. I’m walking to the ring to conquer. Like there have been men that have conquered continents and countries that are breathing the same air as me and you. Like, come on, let me go out there and try and be like them.

“And I can take myself out of my body and not be personal and be like ‘I’m sitting ringside, who do I want to see in that ring? I want to see a killer, I want to see a beast in that ring.’ So it’s my time to do it, let me be that person.”

On his thoughts about facing Dubois

“Brilliant, because it’s another project. It’s not just training fro the sake of — I’m not training to get fit, I’m training to beat Daniel Dubois.

“More so than anything it’s where I’m at mentally, I think. And I’m just — I’m ready.”
