‘We can build that into being a mega fight’: Warren eyes future Dubois vs Wardley showdown

Queensbury promoter Frank Warren has his eyes set on a future meeting between IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley, who has now cracked the sanctioning body’s top 15 ranking. Warren tells Sky Sports that Wardley will not get a shot at Dubois just yet, but thinks the fight can be built into a big one as Wardley continues to prove his worth.

“We can build that into being a mega, mega fight that will fill the likes of Wembley with two big punchers like that,” Warren explained.

“That’s what we’ve got to work towards. In the mean time for Daniel, we’re quite near to announcing something in the next week or so. That will be a big fight for him in February.”

In the meanwhile Warren believes Wardley needs to fight somebody ranked in the top 10 to truly establish himself, and says there will be opportunities for him to do just that in the coming year.

The 29-yeard-old Wardley is most recently coming off a swift first round knockout over Frazer Clarke just a few weeks ago that will be sure to give his career an adrenaline shot in the short term as he looks to build his way to world title contention.
