Dominique Crowder ‘can hit like Thomas Hearns and Mark Breland’

Dominique “Dimes” Crowder wants to have a memorable performance on November 16 as the undefeated bantamweight fights on Boxing Insider Promotions’ stacked card at The Showroom, Tropicana Atlantic City, New Jersey. 

The bout will be streamed on DAZN.

Crowder, 17-0 (10 KOs), holds the No. 14 WBA world ranking. The 30-year-old Crowder who trains under Jose Guzman and Hall of Famer Mark Breland, once dominated the amateur scene as a two-time New York Golden Gloves champion and top national contender.

“I’m super excited to be on this card in Atlantic City,” Crowder said. “Larry Goldberg made it happen, and I’m glad. All the greats fought there, and it’s not too far from my hometown. I’ll have a lot of support from Baltimore and New York City.”

Crowder will face Ghana’s Duke Micah, 24-2 (19 KOs), in an eight-round clash on The Boardwalk. Micah, a former Commonwealth bantamweight champion, represents a formidable challenge. “I have known Dominique since his amateur days,” event promoter Goldberg said. “He’s an incredible talent with an impressive team behind him. He’s one of the best free agents in boxing and an amazing human being.”

Crowder started boxing at 14 in Baltimore, Crowder’s natural skills propelled him to train in New York City while maintaining ties to his hometown. Guzman, who has coached him since 2017, highlighted Crowder’s evolution from a slick boxer to a potent boxer-puncher. 

“He’s 6 feet tall, long, and rangy like Mark Breland and Tommy Hearns,” Guzman said. “Dominique can hit like them too.”

Crowder’s sights are set on a world title shot. “Boxing is a waiting game,” Crowder said. “I’m ready for that call, and I’ll fight anywhere in the world for my shot.”

The card also features Chattanooga welterweight Avious Griffin 15-0 (14 KOs) in an eight-round main event against Adrian Gutierrez 12-2-1 (6 KOs). Power-punching Griffin, trained by Brian “Bomac” McIntyre, is one to watch.

Other matchups include Long Island super middleweight Donte Layne 4-0 (4 KOs) taking on Shaquille Cameron 7-3 (6 KOs), and Paterson junior middleweight Dwyke Flemmings Jr. 8-0 (8 KOs) vs. TBA, both in six-round bouts.

Popular Atlantic City fighters junior middleweight Justin “Mr. Atlantic City” Figueroa 10-0 (8 KOs) and heavyweight Bruce “Atlantic City Express 2.0” Seldon Jr. 3-0 (3 KOs) will also be featured, with Seldon facing Julio Mendoza 3-4 (2 KOs).

Female prospects Stacia “The Natural” Suttles and Shere Mae Patricio 2-0 (1 KO) will compete in four-round bouts. Undefeated Italian junior welterweight Giacomo Micheli 8-0 (6 KOs) takes on Ronnell “Punisher” Burnett 11-1 (7 KOs) in another eight-round fight.
