Junior middleweight contender Serhii Bohachuk met with Jalisco governor Pablo Lemus Navarro on Thursday as Bohachuk prepares for his December 21 fight against Israil Madrimov in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Bohachuk, 29, is training in Guadalajara under Manny Robles ahead of the 12-round co-feature supporting the undisputed heavyweight clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

“It was a pleasure meeting Governor Navarro, and I’m very grateful for his warm welcome,” said Bohachuk. “Camp is going great here in Guadalajara. Coach Manny has everything set up perfectly for training and sparring.”

Bohachuk, a Ukraine native now based in Los Angeles, will be returning to the ring following a majority decision loss to Vergil Ortiz Jnr on August 10 in Las Vegas. Earlier this year, he earned an interim super welterweight title with a unanimous decision over former belt holder Brian Mendoza on March 30, also in Las Vegas.

Madrimov, 29, of Uzbekistan, holds a record of 10-1-1 (7 KOs) and is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford in August, where he lost his junior middleweight title at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Bohachuk is joined in camp by featherweight titleholder Rafael Espinoza, who also trains with Robles. Espinoza is set for a Dec. 7 rematch against Robeisy Ramirez in Phoenix.
