‘I think those two should fight twice next year’: Hearn aims to stage Fury vs Joshua in 2025

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn takes some time to chat with iFL TV about a few topics, including the status of Conor Benn as he attempts to stage a fight with Chris Eubank Jr, and his desire to put Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua together in what he says would he a huge event for British fans. Here’s some excerpts of what Hearn had to say below.

Hearn on UKAD having one day left to make an appeal if they seek to overturn Conor Benn’s lifted suspension

“I haven’t heard anything. That’s not down to us. We’ll wait for that news and all we’re doing now is planning his next fight. He’s got a tough decision because he’s got a lot of opportunities. Obviously financially and the biggest fight for British boxing is Eubank. But he could fight for the world title in London, and he could win it. But obviously financially not the same and part of me wants him to go win a world title but that can come. I do think the fight is Eubank. Hopefully we can get it over the line and we’ll see what happens.”

On whether he’ll be looking to put Anthony Joshua against Tyson Fury should Fury beat Oleksandr Usyk

“I think Fury vs AJ is the fight regardless, in all honesty. People keep saying to me ‘ah, AJ’s not rematching Dubois now’ — not true. AJ’s not rematch Dubois on Feb. 22, he still wants to fight him and AJ will return in May or June and that might be against Daniel Dubois, still the biggest fight out there for Dubois. But we also understand the Fury fight is a monster and it will always be a monster.

“Win or lose for Fury, I think those two should fight twice next year. But if Fury can do the business, that makes Fury vs AJ for the unified heavyweight title, and that would be huge.”
