Thurman vs Jarvis reportedly set for Mar. 12 in Sydney

Fighting

The Daily Telegraph’s Dean Ritchie reports that No Limit Boxing will soon announce a March 12th clash between former welterweight titlist Keith Thurman and Jeff Fenech protege Brock Jarvis.

There is, of course, zero guarantee that the fight will actually take place. Thurman (30-1, 22 KO) has fought just once in the last 5.5 years, bouncing back from a 2019 loss to Manny Pacquiao with a solid decision over Mario Barrios in 2022. He was slated to return in a super welterweight clash with Tim Tszyu early last year, but ultimately withdrew with a hand injury, pacing the way for Tszyu to fight Sebastian Fundora instead and ultimately derail his own career.

Jarvis (22-1, 20 KO) got absolutely torched by Liam Paro in 2022 and his two wins since came over very limited opposition. It’s a much more winnable matchup for Thurman on paper, but he has to get to the ring first. Might not be a bad idea to get Tszyu on standby; he could do worse than Jarvis for a comeback.

Jarvis refuses to concede the fight is a gamble, boldly declaring: “It’s not a gamble, mate. I will win because I’m the better fighter”.

“I’m very confident going into this fight and I’m solid mentally. I believe in my preparation and that will show on fight night. Keith is getting older now and this is perfect timing for me,” he said.
