Amir Khan Hoping Fight With Kell Brook is Finalized in Coming Days

Bolton star Amir Khan is crossing his fingers that a deal is finalizing for a showdown with UK rival Kell Brook in the coming days.

The 34-year-old Khan has been out of the ring since July of 2019, when he easily stopped late replacement Billy Dib.

Brook, 35, has been away from action since last November’s knockout loss at the hands of WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

“Contracts are still going back and forth, so I’m not sure how he’s signed when we’re both waiting? Hopefully something gets finalized this week,” Khan said to Talk Sport.

The two former world champions have discussed the idea of fighting each other for years, but they never came close to reaching an agreement.

Even when both boxers were promoted under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner, they were unable to seal the deal for a domestic showdown.

However, both Khan and Brook are inching in the direction of retirement and a potential fight between them is the last remaining moneymaker.

At the moment their respective camps are discussing the event terms, such as the locations and potential networks.

“I need a big, massive fight to get my teeth into and the fight we all want to see is [with] the guy from Bolton. I’ve signed my part of the fight, he just needs to come forward and sign his part and then we’ve got the biggest fight in British boxing,” Brook told IFL TV.

“We have signed our bit. But listen, we don’t need to hide about it. Everyone knows there’s whispers and this and that. Everybody knows this fight needs to happen.”
