BJ Flores: Jake Paul Proved He Has One-Punch Knockout Power

Boxing Scene

Jake Paul (5-0) closed out his 2021 with his perfect record intact. Last Saturday, he landed a huge right hand in the sixth round that sent Tyron Woodley face first to the canvas. The highlight reel knockout topped a Showtime pay-per-event that took place in Tampa, Florida.

The YouTuber/Influencer and Woodley first met in August, with Paul earning an eight round split decision. The fight was Woodley’s first in the squared circle and his first real test in the ring.

The competitiveness of the first fight brought even more criticism from the legion of critics that don’t take Paul’s boxing career seriously.

Paul’s head trainer, retired boxer BJ Flores, believes that the knockout shows how much progress Paul has made in two years in the sport.

“First off, much respect to for Tyron stepping up. Jake showed he has one-punch knockout power. Jake was using the taunts and feints all night. He was very professional. There was no hurry. Jake knew we had eight rounds to work with. There was zero rush,” Flores told BoxingScene.com.

Paul was originally scheduled to face prospect/reality television star Tommy Fury who is the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.  Tommy withdrew from the fight because of a chest infection and fractured ribs that he suffered in sparring.

There has been talk of the fight potentially being rescheduled for 2022 but Paul has no shortage of options and may end up going in another direction.
