Fighting

Wednesday, April 17

DAZN and Social Media, 2:00 pm ET, Haney vs Garcia open workouts

These workouts are so open that ANYONE can watch!

Thursday, April 18

DAZN and Social Media, 2:00 pm ET, Haney vs Garcia press conference

What will they say? Dumb stuff, regular stuff, or no stuff?

Friday, April 19

DAZN and Social Media, 2:00 pm ET, Haney vs Garcia weigh-in

What will they weigh? 140, under 140, or OVER 140? That’s the question.

DAZN, 7:00 pm ET, Kurt Scoby vs Dakota Linger

An Overtime Boxing show. Scoby is a former football player (non-heavyweight) who showed a little fun promise on ShoBox but hasn’t been scooped up by any major players, so it’s going to continue to be an uphill run for him. Linger’s a fun guy you’ve seen on Top Rank prelims before, a total “opponent” type but tough and game.

Saturday, April 20

TNT Sports (UK), 3:00 pm ET, Sam Noakes vs Yvan Mendy

The vacant European lightweight title is on the line. Noakes is a good time, can fight and can punch. You will recall Mendy from upsetting Luke Campbell in 2015 and turning that into three years of absolutely nothing before losing a rematch in 2018, which turned into five more years of absolutely nothing since. But in the UK, a foreign fighter can book themselves a handful of returns, over whatever amount of time, if they ever upset someone domestic.

DAZN and Social Media, 4:30 pm ET, Haney vs Garcia prelims

Actually no clue right now what’s on this, but don’t expect much beyond video packages and hype. Realistically, almost every single person is fine waiting until the PPV starts.

DAZN PPV / PPV.com, 8:00 pm ET, Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia

BLH will have live updates. It’s here! It’s happening! A lot of hype for a guy whose biggest fight was a knockout loss and he’s only got B and B-minus wins otherwise! But he’s dangerous with his speed and power, and we’ll see if he can live up to his/the hype against Haney, who has been hurt in fights before but did look fantastic moving up to 140 last time out. Undercard: Arnold Barboza Jr vs Sean McComb, Bektemir Melikuziev vs Pierre Dibombe, John “Scrappy” Ramirez vs David Jimenez, and Charles Conwell vs Nathaniel Gallimore. You can also order through traditional PPV on cable and satellite and what have you. It’ll run you $69.99 on DAZN with your subscription, or $79.99 otherwise.

UFC Fight Pass, 9:00 pm ET, Cain Sandoval vs Angel Rebollar

Another “Hollywood Fight Night” from Tom Loeffler, pretty much the standard for the cards. This one’s in Commerce, Calif., so at least not on the East Coast for a “Hollywood Fight Night.”
