‘Catterall’s style is made for me’: Prograis anticipating good performance in upcoming fight

Fighting

With Regis Prograis looking to rebound from his last outing, a wide decision loss to Devin Haney, when he faces Jack Catterall this weekend in Manchester, he speaks a little about where he went wrong in that fight and why this fight will be different.

“With the Haney fight, it was just a mind thing for me, honestly,” Prograis said. “I can’t go into so much detail but I had a lot of distractions going on inside the camp, I had a long camp that I should never had, I changed trainers. I mean basically, mentally, everything that could’ve went bad probably went bad.

“It was a big mental warfare thing when Bill [Haney]— we did all the talking. That’s something I kind of started enjoying. Instead of thinking about the fight I kind of enjoyed ‘alright, let’s go talk shit to Bill’…They kind of got into our heads about talking and stuff life that, and that’s what they did.

“So I don’t think it was a style thing…I mean, he has a good style also but at the same time I think Jack Catterall’s style is made for me, but at the same time I think that mentally I was already beat.”

At age 35 Prograis is still looking to make another world title run and this fight here would seem to be a critical one if he’s ever to get back to that level, and we’ll see if Prograis will be able to put it all together this Saturday.
