Chris Algieri: ‘I Don’t Think We’ll See Ryan Garcia Anywhere Near 140 Again’

Boxing Scene

On Friday’s episode of ProBox TV’s “Deep Waters,” analyst Chris Algieri answered the question of which weight class Ryan Garcia should campaign in next. “I don’t think it’s whether he should – it’s more of a ‘could’ than should,’” Algieri said. After missing weight by more than three pounds in his April 20 fight with Devin Haney (and having tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs ahead of that bout), Garcia seems unlikely to get back under the junior welterweight limit again. “Ryan has outgrown 135-140,” Algieri said.
