doesn’t ask who. He simply fights. The flyweight better known by his nickname “Magi” will make his third appearance of 2024 on December 5 in a four-round fight against Carlon Johnson, 0-1-1, at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, California.
Kharkhuu, 28, trains under coach John Pullman in Los Angeles and is managed by 3PM Management and Danny Enkhjargal, who previously worked with featherweight contender Tugstsogt Nyambayar.
His journey to the professional ranks is one of sacrifice and determination. A former hopeful for Mongolia’s 2020 Olympic team, he saw his plans disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaving his wife and children behind in Mongolia, Kharkhuu moved to Los Angeles with the singular goal of becoming a world champion.
“Magi is a very high-character guy,” Pullman told BoxingScene. “He came here for one mission: to be a world champion. Everything he does aligns with that. He has a really great team behind him. This is all very exciting because we all work well together.”
Despite his ambitions, Kharkhuu, who holds a record of 4-0 (1 KO), is still early in his professional career, competing in four-round bouts.
“My dream is to call my family and tell them I am a world champion,” Kharkhuu told BoxingScene.
Pullman believes Kharkhuu has the qualities to not just win a title but also win over the fans.
“I really think the American people are going to like Magi,” he said. “He is a very exciting fighter. This guy is 112lbs of dynamite.”
