Former Jack Catterall opponent talks Prograis fight

JACK Catterall and Regis Prograis square off tonight in what should prove an intriguing matchup at super-lightweight. The winner can expect to possibly be in line for a shot at the world title next – especially if it’s Jack.

With his win over former undisputed champ Josh Taylor last time out, a win over another former champ in Prograis would make it hard not to put him at the forefront of contenders in the division. In his last contest, Regis was beaten soundly by Devin Hayney and will be looking to bounce back from that.

He didn’t look great in the one before that, either, against Danielito Zorrilla, and that may indicate that it’s more a sign of him being on the tail end of his career rather than just some bad form.

I expect Jack to pick up an impressive win, and I’m sure he’d like to move on to the biggest names in the division next, Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, or even Ryan Garcia, after his suspension.

When I boxed Jack back in 2016, I thought his judgement of range was very good and he had some good little tricks in the ring. He is good at getting his shots off quickly and then tying you up to stop you getting your own off. I think he will employ those sorts of tactics this weekend and pick up a wide points decision.
