Headliners Katsuma Akitsugi, Jesus Ramirez Rubio make weight for ProBox TV card

Bantamweights Katsuma Akitsugi and Jesus Ramirez Rubio square off Wednesday at the ProBox TV Events Center in Plant City, Florida, in another installment of ProBox TV’s “Wednesday Night Fights.”

Akitsugi (10-0, 1 KO), 26, originally from Japan and now training in Hollywood, California, will face Jesus Ramirez Rubio (23-3-3, 16 KOs) in a 10-round fight. Akitsugi weighed in at 118.6 pounds, while Ramirez Rubio tipped the scales at 118.8 pounds.

Akitsugi is returning to the ring after a 26-month hiatus, having beaten four undefeated fighters in his career. Rubio, coming off a recent technical knockout loss to Ramon Cardenas on ProBox TV, is 1-2 in his past three fights, including a first-round defeat against current WBA featherweight titleholder Nick Ball.

In the co-feature, welterweight Nicklaus Flaz (12-2, 8 KOs), 28, of Puerto Rico, met the welterweight limit at 147 pounds, while his opponent Alfredo Escarcera (15-1-1, 7 KOs), 26, of Buckeye, Arizona, weighed in just under at 146.2 pounds.
