Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez (35-2, 32 KOs) returned to the winner’s column on May 11 when he stopped Daniel Lugo (27-3-1, 18 KOs) in seven rounds at the Palenque de la Feria en Aguascalientes, Mexico. The fight was streamed live on DAZN.
In Hernandez’s prior fight, he lost a thrilling battle to O’Shaquie Foster when he was stopped in the 12th round of their October 28 clash in Cancun with the WBC super featherweight title on the line. He was up on two of the judge’s scorecards at the time of the stoppage and had won his previous six fights by stoppage.
Hernandez’s manager Hector Fernandez de Cordova is very pleased at how his fighter bounced back from defeat.
“Rocky showed the experience from his last fight. In the third round we had flashbacks from the Foster fight but he made the adjustments and we came out victorious. Too bad the corner of Lugo didn’t know when enough was enough. They should have stopped the fight earlier,” Fernandez told BoxingScene.
According to Fernandez, Hernandez’s promotional contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom expired after the fight and they are currently fielding offers.
“Rocky is taking a well-deserved rest but we are working on our next move. He is ready for anyone. We want any of the champions or a former champion,” said Fernandez.
