‘I’m going in there to f— this man up’: Ryan Garcia’s final thoughts on Haney

Fighting

Ryan Garcia’s mental state has been questioned by many observers ahead of Saturday’s fight with Devin Haney, and he was in consistent form, you would say, at today’s final press conference.

After being presented the Psychology for Dummies book by Bill Haney, it was Garcia’s turn to speak. Relatively speaking, he kept it short and sweet.

“I’m just ready to kick ass. I’m going in there to fuck this man up, you don’t understand, I’m gonna fuck him up,” Garcia began.

“You don’t know what I’ve been training like, you don’t know the vision I have, you do not know I’m on fire, I’m on fire, I’m on fire. I’ll break this whole (podium) right now, that’s how on fire I am, I’m strong. I’m strong! I’m strong!”

Then he barked and growled into the microphone before he began to brag about how “loud” he is by making something similar to train noises into the microphone, then called someone a “bitch” and sat down.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KO) will surely have more to say at tomorrow’s weigh-in, but pretty much he’s continuing on as he’s been in the lead-up to this fight, which tends to work well for influencer boxing undercarders, so who’s to say it doesn’t work here?
