Isaac Chamberlain and the McKenna brothers are in action on Friday night

CHANNEL 5 has become a reliable provider of boxing entertainment in recent years, with promoter Mick Hennessy serving up some solid matches. This weekend (Friday December 10) cruiserweight Isaac Chamberlain, 13-1 (7), can win his fifth consecutive bout when he takes on Montenegro’s Dilan Prasovic, 15-1 (12), inside Crystal Palace’s National Sports Centre.

Prasovic challenged WBO belt-holder Lawrence Okolie in September but was badly overmatched, being knocked out in three rounds.

Chamberlain went 10 against Okolie in February 2018 and should too classy, skilful and hard-hitting for Prasovic.

“I’m very excited for this fight, we have been doing some tremendous work and we’ve had a great training camp,” Chamberlain says. “My child was born two weeks ago and it was such a surreal moment. Now it is something that I’m fighting for, I’m fighting for my son and I’m fighting for my little family.

“That is so motivating for me, it makes me want to get up early and do my work, even when I don’t feel like it.”

Other fighters to keep an eye on include Irish brothers Aaron and Stephen McKenna (against Carlos Gallego and Abdul Quartey respectively) while Kaisee Benjamin takes on fading gatekeeper, Wiston Campos. Streaking heavyweight Tommy Welch, son of Scott, is also in action.

“I’ve trained my whole life for this and I’m looking to put out a bit statement to all the welterweights out there to tell them I’m coming for them all. I’m just going to go in there and put on a destructive performance,” said Stephen McKenna.

“The Mexicans are good fighters, but I’m not worried about what he is going to do, I’m focused on what I’m going to do,” his brother Aaron added. “I’ve been in Mexico and sparred the best over there so I’m more than ready for this.”
