Jake Paul’s latest provocation takes aim at one of boxing’s heavyweight champions.
In a recent video posted on his Twitter account, Paul, the social media star-turned boxer roasted WBC heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury for only putting forward a $100,000 bet on his younger brother Tommy Fury.
Paul will be taking on Tommy Fury in an eight-round cruiserweight bout on Showtime Pay-Per-View Aug. 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Tyson Fury told IFL TV that he would lay down $100,000 for his younger brother to pull out the victory, prompting Paul to challenge Fury to turn in a heftier bet.
“Tyson Fury, who made $40 million last year, is willing to bet $100,000 on his brother. Oh my god. We’re shaking,” Paul cracked. “Hey, Tyson, you f— p—y, you made $40 million. I know it wasn’t as much as me, but let’s up the ante. Let’s bet a $1 million on it, Tyson. $2 million. $3 million. However much you want to f—— bet. Let’s do it. Are you down? Make a deal.”
“I can tell when someone’s not confident because these pussy motherf—— on Twitter…they’re scared,” Paul continued. “I can tell when they’re scared. But me, I’m a cold motherf—–. I’ll bet anyone. Any time, any place. So f— your $100K. Let’s make this a better bet and make it worth a couple million. Are you down?”
Fury responded hours later by accepting Paul’s dare.
“Hey Jakey boy, I hear you want to bet a bigger bet than $100,000,” Fury said in a video posted on his social media accounts. “If you want a bigger bet, you want a million dollars, let’s do it. Holler at your boy. You want a million? You got it.”
“Hey Jakey,” Fury continued. “I want to see this million dollars in escrow, sucker. Because I don’t think you’ve got a million dollars.
“I’m not talking about crypto, I’m talking about real US green bags motherf——.”
Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) and the younger Fury were originally scheduled to fight last December, but Fury had to pull out of the fight citing an injury. Paul went on to face Tyrone Woodley in a rematch which Paul won by sixth-round knockout.
The undefeated Tommy Fury (8-0, 4 KOs) last fought in April, a six-round decision over Daniel Bocianski.
Also on the card as the co-headliner is Amanda Serrano in a featherweight title bout against Brenda Carabajal. Serrano is coming off a close points loss to Katie Taylor in their ballyhooed 135-pound women’s undisputed lightweight championship in April. Serrano is guided by Paul’s managerial label, Most Valuable Promotions.
