Jermell Charlo: “I Want To Knock Crawford Out”

Boxing Scene

Jermell Charlo has a gigantic task in front of him. Canelo Alvarez, the reigning super middleweight kingpin, has decided to face him in an undisputed vs. undisputed showdown. Moving up in weight to take on the Mexican star may not come across as sagacious but according to Charlo, he has more than enough tricks up his sleeves to get the job.

As the 33-year-old continues to put in the work, he acknowledges that the presence of Terence Crawford is becoming difficult to ignore. Of course, the pound-for-pound star did the unthinkable in Charlo’s eyes, beating down and stopping his good friend and former unified welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr.

Since taking care of business, Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) has repeated on several occasions that he wants to get his hands on Charlo next. Although he isn’t looking past Alvarez, Charlo is confident that his audacious 14-pound jump will end in his favor. Once it does, Crawford can immediately throw on his boxing gear and prepare himself for their clash.

“We’ll get it in,” Charlo told Million Dollaz Worth of Game. “Anytime he wants to.”

As of late, Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) has gotten into the habit of listing off his most desirable opponents. In addition to wanting to get his hands on Crawford, Tim Tszyu has also been mentioned as a big-time possibility in the near future.

No matter how long his hit list may be, there’s something about Crawford that Charlo simply can’t stand. From the lopsided beating he dished out to his longtime pal, to the way Crawford conducts himself both in and outside of the ring, the 35-year-old gets under his skin.

With the two pushing towards a collision course, a win over the Omaha, Nebraska, native wouldn’t placate Charlo in the slightest. Instead, the only thing that would satisfy the current undisputed champ at 154 pounds is if Crawford is left gazing at the ceiling lights during their hypothetical showdown.
