‘Just a step in the right direction’: Mosley Jr looks forward to Jacobs fight

Fighting

With Shane Mosley Jr set to return to the ring this weekend, taking on former titleholder Daniel Jacobs, he talks to boxing media about what this opportunity means for his career and his expectations for the fight. Here’s some of what Mosley Jr had to say down below.

Mosley Jr on what he has to do to beat Jacobs

“Just be me. Just be me, revel in the moment, take advantage of the opportunities and win.”

On if he plans to push the pace on Jacobs early to take advantage of ring rust

“You know, we got to see. Those are things you got to see what the moment is, right. You can have all kind of plans you want, but you got to see what the situation entails. I can tell you I’m going to do all this and that but come fight night it might be a different story. So it’s like you got to see, got to take it one step at a time.”

On if he views this as a passing of the torch

“It’s just a step in the right direction. It’s a step on trying to be a legend.”

On if win here puts him in title contention

“I believe I am in the title contention category. I believe this only solidifies that. Like I said, I told somebody before, I did get offered to fight Carlos Adames, and so I accepted and terms weren’t right so we move forward. This opportunity came about, why not.”
