Kambosos vs Yordan leads Mar. 22 DAZN show in Sydney

Fighting

Late last week, Matchroom announced that former lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr will headline a March 22nd show in Sydney that also features Skye Nicholson, Cherneka Johnson, and Teremoana Teremoana. Keith Idec, confirming an earlier report from Dan Rafael, claims “Ferocious” will face Daud Yordan in his super lightweight debut.

Yes, that Yordan (43-4, 31 KO), who lost an all-Indonesian battle with Chris John nearly 14 years ago and effectively fell off the map following a reasonably competitive loss to Anthony Crolla in a 2018 eliminator. His six fights since have seen him tour southern Asia with little fanfare, but they were somehow enough to earn him his first DAZN main event at 37 years old.

Maybe those three Australian fights from 2011-2013 had something to do with it, or maybe Matchroom’s just pulling out all the stops to get Kambosos (21-3, 10 KO) a decisive win. He’s exclusively won by split or majority decision in the 2020s and sits at 1-3 in his last four, that win a bogus one over Maxi Hughes.
