Keyshawn Davis wants Las Vegas main event fight against Frank Martin

Latest

WORLD lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis now knows for certain who he would like to face in his next fight.

The 25-year-old is one week removed from his last bout – a lively 10-round battle against Miguel Madueno – which Davis, (11-0, 7 KOs), won handily enough but was placed under constant pressure throughout. Davis also proved he could handle the rough stuff, particularly during a fiery end to round six, which culminated in Madueno landing a shot on referee David Franciosi.

Never lacking in confidence, Davis addressed his followers on Instagram yesterday (July 12) and informed them which fighter he wants to take on next time out.

“Frank Martin, we gotta run that,” Davis said.

“No disrespect, let’s fight. The fans wanna see it. It’d be a hell of a fight. It can be our own main event fight. We can take that s**t to Vegas. Me and you both just had great performances.”

“The time is now,” he continued. “There’s no point us waiting and prolonging. The time is now, let’s fight. Let’s give the fans what they wanna see. It ain’t gotta be all that s**t talking. It’s respected. You respected, I’m respected, let’s just get it on, let’s fight. We got history. I want to fight Frank Martin.”

Last month, Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) faced his toughest assignment yet when he challenged Gervonta “Tank” Davis for the WBA world lightweight title. The fight ended in an eighth-round knockout victory for the champion, but all three judges had Davis only one point ahead (67-66) on the scorecards at the time of the finish.

Twelve months ago, Martin and Davis crossed swords in Las Vegas during the Terence Crawford-Errol Spence Jr (who manages Martin) fight week. It didn’t take long for the conversation between the two to heat up and after a few minutes of jawing they both went their separate ways but Davis got his job done and planted the seed.

Martin is currently boxing under the Premier Boxing Champions banner, while Davis plies his trade on Top Rank promotions.
