According to reports from ESPN, Teofimo Lopez is on the verge of his next fight as it looks like he’ll be taking on Jamaine Ortiz in a February 8 card that will headline in Las Vegas. The proposed 140 lb world title fight will headline on ESPN on a Thursday, three days before the upcoming Super Bowl in the same city, with the hopes of a boost from that traffic.
Additionally, it’s being reported that Keyshawn Davis vs Jose Pedraza (originally scheduled for this month) will now serve as a co-feature on the Lopez vs Ortiz card. That fight had been delayed due to Davis being suspended by a Texas commission for a positive marijuana test.
As for the top of the billing, Lopez is coming off a dominant showing over Josh Taylor at 140 lbs, while Jamaine Ortiz largely made his profile by giving Vasiliy Lomachenko a run for his money in a decision loss last year. Ortiz most recently took a unanimous decision over Antonio Moran this past September.
