Pacheco vs Sadjo eyed for Sept. 7

Apologies for citing Lance Pugmire twice in a row, but he’s got the goods at the moment, bringing word that super middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco is in talks with Kevin Lele Sadjo to meet atop a September 7th DAZN show in Carson.

Pacheco (21-0, 17 KO), 23, has long been one of Matchroom Boxing’s most prized up-and-comers. That said, he’s lost a bit of luster after unexpectedly tough bouts with Marcelo Coceres and Shawn McCalman, the latter of which snapped his nine-fight knockout streak.

He’d have been forgiven for taking a gimme to rebuild his mojo, but if he does wind up facing Sadjo (23-0, 20 KO), he’ll deserve a ton of credit. “The Phenomen” is the definition of a high-risk, low-reward opponent; Pacheco can’t afford to neglect his height and reach advantages in favor of a brawl, as despite looking iffy himself two weeks back against Durval Elias Palacio, Sadjo is an absolute tank in the pocket.

This is Fight of the Year of the Week material at minimum. We’ll let you know if they put pen to paper.
