The scores were 99-91, 100-90, 100-90.
Vargas was fighting for the first time since July of 2019, when he won a twelve round decision over Tomoki Kameda.
Vargas was using distance, with a long jab being fired and using his reach advantage. Vargas was also firing good shots to the body. Baez did a bit better in the second, but he was still being outlanded by Vargas.
Rounds three through six were very similar to each other, with Vargas outlanding and outboxing Baez. Vargas was landing the better punches and landing solid shots to the body. Vargas continued to rip the body in the seventh. Baez tried his best to change the tide in the remaining three rounds, but Vargas as outworking and outboxing him.
