Plant and Fulton set for Aug. 17 return on Prime

Fighting

Caleb Plant announced on Twitter yesterday that he’ll meet Trevor McCumby on August 17th in his first ring appearance of 2024, with The Ring adding that said bout will headline PBC’s first non-PPV show on Amazon Prime.

Plant (22-2, 13 KO) has fought just twice since a 2021 loss to Canelo Alvarez, smoking Anthony Dirrell in one of 2022’s knockouts of the year before getting overpowered by David Benavidez in March of last year. He faces a significantly less daunting challenge in McCumby (28-0, 21 KO), who sat out for nearly five years before racking up a trio of unremarkable wins over the last 14 months

Per The Ring, former unified super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton (21-1, 8 KO) will also make his return against Ronny Rios (34-4, 17 KO) in a much more palatable matchup. Rios may have tripped at the final hurdle more than once, but he’s tough as nails and can absolutely give Fulton hell if “Cool Boy” hasn’t fully recovered from last year’s mauling at the hands of Naoya Inoue.
