Tank discusses weekend fight with Roach, says he’s in for ‘a rude awakening’

Fighting

Ahead of this weekend’s fight between Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis and Lamont Roach both fighters appeared for an open media workout, after which Tank spent a few minutes talking about the matchup and what’s to come for the rest of the year. Here are some excerpts of what Tank had to say.

Tank on his pre-fight trash talk with Roach and what Roach can expect come fight night

“A rude awakening, for sure. He just doing what he has to do, trying to psych himself out for the fight but come March 1st it’s all about skill vs skill and who has the better skill that night is going to be the victorious person.”

On having a high KO ratio and what it’s like when he lands that crushing shot on an opponent

“It actually feels like a home run, when somebody hit the bat and it’s just right on the target and it goes far. It’s like that. That’s how it feel when you actually hit somebody on the button, you know that you catch ‘em real good.”

On what he wants his 2025 to look like

“Stay in the ring more this year, for sure. I want to say hopefully I got three fights this year, hopefully. But I’m looking forward to Lamont Roach come March 1st and we’ll figure out after that.”
