Neither Tyson Fury nor Anthony Joshua have quite the same status as they once have, as the two former world titleholders are both coming off of losses that have left them without any trinkets in the heavyweight division, but that doesn’t mean a big prizefight can’t be made between the men.
Both Fury and Joshua have long circled one another as two massive heavyweight stars in the UK, and Top Rank’s Todd DuBoef tells Sky Sports that he believes a fight between them is still a big deal — should both men decide to go in that direction.
“I think the brands are so strong,” he continued. “In the UK, the country would stop for an hour to see what happens and I think that’s a wonderful thing.
“I think they both have to decide if they want to fight, let alone each other. I’ve always said for years the two brands and the two fanbases for both of them are so big and so wonderfully connected to them, that fight is always there.”
Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) was most recently upset and stopped by Daniel Dubois last September, while Fury just lost his second straight fight to Oleksandr Usyk, failing to get his retribution in their December rematch. If these two are ever going to make their domestic showdown, 2025 appears to be as good of a time as it’s going to get.
