‘Usyk’s a sausage’: Tyson Fury says undisputed fight is on course for December

Fighting

Tyson Fury has his kinda-exhibition fight this Saturday against Francis Ngannou, but boxing fans are really most concerned with his undisputed heavyweight championship fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury and Usyk have signed contracts for the bout, with a possible reported date coming in just two months.

But there are some questions about whether or not the fight will actually happen in December, given the short turnaround time, even if Fury blasts Ngannou in short order and doesn’t suffer a cut or anything this weekend.

“Usyk’s a sausage,” Fury told Sky Sports. When asked if the fight might get “pushed back” from its tentative Dec. 23 date due to Usyk wanting a longer training camp than eight weeks, Fury said Usyk would be in breach of contract.

“I expect it to be taking place in December, that’s what I’ve been told, so I’ve got no reason to disbelieve it. Usyk has to fight me in December, doesn’t have a choice. He signed the contract, so if he doesn’t, he’s breached contract and he gets sued. So he doesn’t really have a choice.”

So for now, if you’re one who can still take Tyson Fury seriously, the fight is on track for December in Saudi Arabia.
